Sightseeing in Diveagar
With a long stretch of sandy beach and a village full of beetle nuts, jack fruits and banana plantains; Diveagar has a very fresh feel about it.
A beach that shot up in popularity after a serendipitous discovery of a golden mask of the elephant god Ganesha, Diveagar, is a prosperous village located at one end of the triple Raigad beaches. Although the mask unfortunately was stolen from the 'Suvarna Ganesh' temple in 2012 the popularity of Diveagar beach did not diminish thanks to the beautiful beach that no one can steal! Diveagar is about 4-5 hours away from the two major cities of Pune and Mumbai making Diveagar a popular weekend spot. Diveagar is about 40 kms off the NH17 from Mangaon. Diveagar is about 20 kms away from Dighi port from where one could visit the famous Murud Janjira fort.
The Diveagar beach, delicious home made kokani food, and a visit to the Murud Janjira fortress are the highlights of a holiday in Diveagar however there is lots more to see in Diveagar. Shrivardhan and Harihareshwar are two more beatiful beach destinations just 20 kms from each other with Diveagar being at one end. Aaravi beach another secluded beach is just 10 kms from Diveagar. Apart from the beach, Murud Janjira located a few minutes boat ride away from Dighi is the main sightseeing option in Diveagar. Dighi is about half an hour from Diveagar and sail boats are available at the Dighi port. If you wish to you can visit the Murud beach on the other end of the creek which is also a beautiful beach. Diveagar is at one end of Raigad beaches, Diveagar Shrivardhan and Harihareshwar. Dighi is a 30 mins drive from Diveagar. Temples in this region is very famous and Harihareshwar at the southern end is popularly known as the Dakshin Kashi owing to the very popular temple located by the beach.

Believed to be built in the thirteen century, Rupnarayan Temple is located on the way to the Diveagar beach. The temple has been recently renovated without loosing the rustic feel about the temple. The idol of Vishnu is the main attraction of the temple built in Shilahara architechtural style.
